On Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Room 103 of the State House, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing on Senate Bill 472, the Kimberly L. Cates Law. This bill, if passed, will classify home invasions where death is intended and death results as a capital crime. Among its local legislator sponsors are Senators Bragdon and Roberge, Representatives Mead and Holden, as well as myself.
The text of the bill can be found here: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2010/SB0472.html
The Senate Judiciary Committee is comprised of five senators, one of whom is Sen. Roberge. Please come to the committee hearing on Tuesday and let them know of your thoughts and opinions on the bill. You can do that by oral testimony, submitting written testimony (a statement), signing in on the bill, or your mere presence.
Please tell your neighbors to come as well. Unless this bill passes and it gets to the House of Representatives, this hearing will be the one opportunity the public has to be heard.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Thanks,
Rep. Bill O’Brien
